Kind of strange that their have been reports for the last month or so that Lemieux was a free agent, talking to golden boy, exploring other possibilities etc and GYM didn't say anything about it until now.

Lemieux already signed a one-fight deal with Golden Boy when he fought Rosado. I think GYM had any grounds they should've said something then. Sounds like they're just trying to get something for their loss.

About the most basic language in any contract is that the signator assures that he/she has no existing contract that would supersede the one that's being signed -- that he/she is free and clear to sign it.

I'm sure there's such language in this contract, and if Lemeiux did not provide any and all current contracts that relate to his boxing and promotion than he would be on the hook for all legal fees that result -- in effect, he'd be fighting to pay back monies owed rather than to increase his bank account.
