    Heavyweight slugout

Revitalized heavyweight contender Shannon Briggs, 45-4-1 (39 KOs), will be entering the most significant fight of his comeback Saturday, as he takes on veteran ****y Ryan, 55-8 (44 KOs), in the main event of the “Heavyweight Slug-Out 2” event at the Convention Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Briggs vs. Ryan will be for the vacant USBA, NABA, and WBO NABO Heavyweight Titles, as well as an NABF Heavyweight Eliminator to challenge the winner of the April 28 Samuel Peter vs. Julius Long battle at the Mohegan Sun Casino. Currently rated WBC #8, IBF #10 and WBO #8, a victory could propel the 34-year-old Briggs into a big-money showdown with a champion or top contender. A loss could be disastrous for the man currently riding a nine-fight knockout streak who claims to have matured and grown as a fighter since his reckless younger days. Also on the Slug-Out 2 bill are former contender and Sopranos actor Lou Savarese, 43-6 (35 KOs), making his comeback after two years away, undefeated knockout puncher JD “The Natural” Chapman, 20-0 (18 KOs), taking on cross-town rival Marvin Hill for the Arkansas State Title and "All-American Prizefighter" Rob Calloway, 56-6-1 (43 KOs), who will be looking to rebound from his two-round destruction at the hands of Ruslan Chagaev in January. The promoter of the event is Stacy Goodson.

Briggs should win this one.I would love to see him vs. Sam Peter.Briggs is a solid fighter but his chin isn't top notch so we could see another great ko from Peter or highly unlikely but he could possibly out box Peter and win a decision.Either way it's an interesting fight.
