Maybe it isn't the best personal move but when did it become reasonable or right for a legit contender to turn down a shot at the real title for a shot at a paper title? Jennings has wanted this fight for a few years and has said about it "**** or get off the pot" when people said he should maybe wait and that if he wasn't ready now he wouldn't be ready ever. He should be praised for taking the high road on this imo.Comment

From what I saw in Jennings vs Perez, I am not sold on Jennings yet. I would really like to see Wilder and Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko. They won't beat him either but I just like their height, power and ability. Jennings looks like he would be a great Cruiserweight. Jennings has a mere 19 fights, few KO's, he'll be at a height and size disadvantage on top of the experience disadvantage and power disadvantage. It's not like Jennings could get Wlad's respect with power, and it's not like any HW out there can outbox Wlad. You have to straight up catch him on the chin and KO him, Jennings won't do that. Fury and Wilder have a better shot at that.Comment

I do believe he would have been better off waiting to fight for the paper title, perhaps win it, make some bucks, then fight Wlad down the line (and like Haye, he would have had a lever in negociation with the WBC belt around his waist).
Now he jumps right at the champ, he stands virtually no chance, he will probably look bad in the ring, lose his mandatory position for the WBC, suffer a crushing loss. I say this is bad management. I admire his courage, but not his intelligence.Comment

Klitschko is using this to get the fight with Wilder.LAS VEGAS -- The heavyweight division is picking up steam.
Moments after Deontay Wilder lifted the title from Bermane Stivene, we have news of another big heavyweight fight for the spring.
Bryant Jennings broke the news to BoxingScene.com that he will be fighting Wladimir Klitschko for the heavyweight championship.

Right now Jennings is Wilders mandatory, if Klitschko defeats him it takes away
Wilder's mandatory and clears the way for a unification fight.Comment

I've always felt Povetkin was the second best guy in the division. He has a much more varied arsenal than Stiverne and hits plenty hard.
Sometimes he doesn't fight well, but when he's on, I think only Wlad beats him.
I can see major problems for Wilder so even if Povetkin is mando I think Wilder will go for the optional defense first.
I think the Wilder team will avoid that risk and go for the big money in Fury and the WBC will happily oblige.
It will probably end up like the WBA where you don't see Kovalev and Braehmer fighting because they have two different belts.Comment

Perez vs Povetkin will now be ordered now as Jennings has dropped out, just as Arreola vs Mitchell was ordered when Fury dropped out of facing the Mitchell/Banks winner.the idea has been floated already in reports.Comment

With Wilder winning a title last night, Wlad signing to fight Jennings and the rest of the hw pack vying for position, Briggs will be marginalized and not sought after as a viable opponent. I'm glad that Briggs is in this position; he needs to fight his way to the top, not talk his wayComment

cant reply to kev above because he has me on ignore, but dear lord. bryant jennings would be a good cruiserweight? LMAO
he recently weighed 230 lbs for a fight, you want him to drop 30 lbs to fight a **** division like cruiser?Comment
