that random fighters example would only be relevant if many of those fighters could beat or compete with Klitsch. Them fighting each other means nothing because the best hypejob out of x hypejobs is still a hypejob.
I dont know if i agree but i think people are saying that Elite World Championship Heavyweight level boxing is a lifestyle. you eat breathe live it from the get go. I believe its totally dependent on each individual boxer but i would probably lean towards the lifestyle boxer over a guy who spent most of his life perfecting a sweet fadeaway or a diving catch.Comment

America doesn't even try during the Olympics, it's kind of like we show up, and expect to win. Other countries it means the whole world to them. Most nba players could easily get an Olympic gold but would rather chill at home during the summer lol.
It's the equivalent to a boxing champ levels ahead of his opponent, not taking things seriously. Then there is the hungry contender, biggest moment of his life.
Put it this way, our worse is better than your best.
And to the guy who brought up China and India. Basketball is relatively new to those countries and they already produced one of the greatest NBA players all time in Yao Ming.
Some of the best basketball players I've played with are asian and I'm in Texas btw. Give it 20 years and China will be the most dominate basketball country in the world based on numbers aloneComment

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world and in Europe lmao, they have European clubs that not even the USA can touch when it comes to quality of player development. Guys like Nowitzki/Parker/Ginobili have been playing among professional basketball players since they were children, honing their craft.
Meanwhile guys like in my sig are getting their experience playing street ball.Comment

None of the top American Heavies have EVER beaten one of the top Euro heavies.
There's a reason for that.
No discipline, no strength.
America will ONLY find it's way out of this mess when it first..
(a) Recognises it has a problem, and,
(b) Gets rid of this "loser image" it has made for itself.Comment

I disagree that they don't even try. They have try outs and players have to make the team. Then they practice for months. The difference is they have a way deeper pool of good players to chose from. Players that have been playing competitive basketball since middle school.

Just think about that, an Olympic gold, something some people train their whole lives to attain. Guys turning it down to go to the beach/relax in the summer, they could easily get 10+ gold medals, that'd be sick.Comment

At what level and what kind of resources have been put into the sport over the years?
The article you posted described a "boom" which means that it will take time for them in a sport that the Fat Yanks have monopolised for a number of years. Chinese players weren't allowed in the nba until the mid 90s from what I understand
You dominate sports when you play amongst yourselves.Comment

So are you saying there are about 40 or 50 Wlad beaters playing pro ball now? Football and basketball are different than boxing and the best pro ball players might be total failures as boxers. Lots of good pro ball players tried boxing and found out it's not that easy. This sounds like a way of saying the USA has the best heavyweight boxers in the world but they are all too busy playing pro ball to prove it. You don't get credit for what you never did. Rocky Marciano, Jack Johnson, Joe Walcott, Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey and Mike Tyson would probably never make it as pro ball players but they had what it took to be the heavyweight champion of the world.Comment
