Comments Thread For: Amir Imam Drops Maldonado Four Times For TKO

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - For the World Boxing Council Continental Americas super lightweight championship, Amir Imam (16-0, 14KOs) scored four knockdowns and stopped Fidel Maldonado (19-3, 16KOs) in the fifth round.

Maldonado was taking the fight to Imam and it was a real close fight until the final ten seconds of the second round - when Imam landed a huge right hand to send Maldonado down and he was lucky it came so late in the round because he was badly hurt upon rising.

Either Iman has the hardest punch p4p or this Maldonado has a glassy chin like Litzau.

That dude Maldando was getting dropped and wobbled by grazing shots

it was a very entertaining fight. maldonado was more focused on trying to act tough than he was on taking care of business.

Amir is a great prospect. Has been for a while. The fight with Ugas was great too. He's got skill and a tactician's mind

Neither guy has a great beard. Maldonado was stopped in his first loss by a guy who had decent but not special power. Neither guy is ready for prime time....both make too many mistakes and Maldonado's cost him more. Great fight between guys who will never be elite.
