Comments Thread For: King: After Stiverne Stops Wilder, Jennings Not Next

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - If WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1, 21KOs) defeats Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32KOs) later tonight, Hall of Fame promoter Don King is going to submit a petition to the World Boxing Council to allow Stiverne to have a few voluntary defenses.

Last year, the World Boxing Council put together a heavyweight outline. They ordered Stiverne and Chris Arreola to fight for the vacant WBC title, which Vitali Klitschko vacated. Based on the WBC's outline, the winner of that fight would have to make a mandatory defense against Wilder - and then the winner of Stiverne/Arreola vs. Wilder would have to face WBC #2 Bryant Jennings in another mandatory defense.

              Time to make some money?

You got Jennings, who just signed with Roc Nation and who's owner has been desperately trying to throw his money around.

Klitbro, the highest paid HW and the man to beat at the weight class.

Bruh, your fighter isn't even being paid more as the champion

Don King may be going senile.
                elimination bouts are not mandatory.
You can refuse the fight and it just means you do not get the next shot at the title.
The Arreola was a fight for the title. (also not mandatory)
                Wlder is Stiverne first and
                only mandatory
                fight

The question is how good are you and how good is your mandatory Opponent? Stiverne had easy mandatories. Arreola, Stiverne are no elite-fighters.

Of course, this is what King does. If Stiverne wins he'll try to secure a optional title defense against a subpar opponent like Manuel Charr. So ****in' Don King
