Comments Thread For: Monroe vs. Vera Early ESPN2 Results From Verona, NY

Greg Jackson survived the worst round of his young career, recovering from a second round knockdown to stop Cornelius Whitlock in the third round of their televised opener.

The wild welterweight scrap saw Jackson hit the deck in round two, a straight right hand clipping the Philly boxer on the chin and putting him on the deck. Whitlock appeared well on his way to an upset, but was unable to close the show.

While his arrogance leaves a bit to be desired, Jackson's fighting heart could not be denied. Stellar recuperative skills allowed the 26-year old to come back strong, raining punches down on a suddenly defenseless Whitlock before referee Charlie Fitch stepped in to halt the contest.

The official time was 1:27 of round three. [Click Here To Read More]

Monroe may not be extremely exciting but he is very skilled and knows what style works best for him and I appreciate the man and the fighter. He and Brandon Adams are great personalities and two of the good guys of the sport. I'm pulling for them each fight.

kid might be a potential "STYLISTIC" problem for triple G..if he keeps winning and improve the names on his resume he'll certainly create a buzz for himself

Hurt whom?? Vera?? Nope. Except with a couple of shots most of the fight he ran as usual your african american talent do. Mayweatheresque style. Boring. Vera hurt him with body punches but the judges as usual don´t want to count them and the fight was in his home town. You say he did better than Chavez? Let him fight Chavez without running or hugging.

i.e. he won't be a face-first plodder with zero defensive skills

Monroe couldn't hurt Vera if Capetillo wrapped his hands.

That's what I was wondering. Legging things with a skirt. Compression things perhaps? I didn't think you were allowed to wear anything other than shorts, skirts ect.
