Steve Cunningham was an American cruiserweight, which meant that he was a cruiserweight who had to leave the United States to get more opportunities in places where the division is deeper and more widely followed.

He turned pro in late 2000 and fought in the U.S. In 2006 he went to Poland and lost his first title shot, returning there immediately to win a belt in a rematch. He went to Germany to defend it, then came back to New Jersey in 2008, losing a war with Tomasz Adamek. Over the next few years he fought four more times in Germany, briefly holding the title again before moving up to heavyweight in 2012.

I believe that Steve could pull this one off. The Czar doesn't have much pop and he is about the same size as Steve. The Czar did in fact beat Adamek but I thought he began to fade in the latter rounds. And if I remember correctly I gave most, if not all, of the latter rounds to Tomasz. He just didn't do enough in the first two thirds of the fight to win it. With that said, I still believe Steve is washed up but its good timing because the Czar is the perfect opponent for him at this point in his career.

Cunningham is a philly guy too yea? So I bet K2 and the Klits would be more than happy to make that mando... but I'd rather see them do their WBO mando first

Good for Cunningham, I hope he wins and if Wlad took that fight I wouldn't even be mad at him given there is nothing out there for him.

Would be a good fight to do in the US for him also because he would likely look awesome and could be daring without much fear, the only downside would be how the size would look but w/e knocking out skinny guys has never been an issue for anyone else.

Great for him. Been a supporter of his since the first Adamek fight, so I'm stoked that he's still getting opportunities. Cunningham-Tarver would be an interesting fight at HW. Winner would enter the Klitschko sweepstakes, surely?
