Russell doesn't deserve a shot? Jhonny ain't no pound for pound lineal champion cash cow. He's just one of 4 title holders.

This is a good fight. Russell starting to step up his competition. Respect.

Russel Jr. said since his first loss, he has learned many things. He claims he has become an unstoppable beast in the gym. He said he is going to kill Johnny Gonzalez.

Get dominated by a guy in his third fight, beat a TBA, get another shot.

        Gotta love boxing.

I'm confused. Who the hell would they rather him fight? Vetyetka? Grandovich? Donaire is moving down so please someone explain it to me. He's fighting the 3rd best title holder in a top heavy division and ppl are whining. But if he was fighting another no name, the belly aching would be the same. U guys are confused.

I think Gonzalez catches him with one of those sleepy-left hooks and the s'midget Russell goes night-night. With Johnny's length dynamic with Russell (he's extremely short, and stumpy) - that leverage on dem sleepy-fists are going to be even more amplified.

Russell still ain't never got the experienced he needed. He went from fighting D-level guys - to one of the most skilled in the world in Loma, and only rounds he "won" were rounds Loma didn't throw any punches - basically he didn't "wn" any rounds, but Loma just gave him 2-3 rounds.

I mean I'm sure he learned in that losing experienced, but he should have then pcked up and started progressing gradually, like most blue-chip prospects do - like how Canelo transitioned from D-bums to C, to B, before finally stepping to world class.

Now I"m not 100% convinced Jhonny's win over Abner means he's truly world class, but it's still a HUGE step up from what Russell was facing before Loma, an embarrassing, one-sided loss.

              Jhonny KO 5.

This is a legit good fight though. Boxing fans in general make way too much of who "deserves" what.

If he can beat Gonzalez (and I think he has a good chance), then he deserves the fight and the title. That simple.

Lool but we alreayd know he gets his ass handed to him by top-tier guys.

                  He was humiliated against Loma.

Loma was UNDESERVEDLY GIVEN TWO TITLE SHOTS BECUASE HE WAS PART OF (POWERFUL PROMOTER) BOB ARUM'S STABLE! Being part of Al Haymon's stable will get Russell Jr. great opportunities that he doesn't deserve just as Loma received.
Loma actually fought top rated opposition to get into the WBO, GR Jnr shouldn't even be in the rankings... still.
He fought more in his debut than GR Jnr in his whole career

Its funny I never saw Burner say a word after GRJ got beat by Loma. I recall him going on about how GRJ would win by, and I quote, a "wwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide UD".

Speaking of which I haven't seen Burner in a while. Is he banned or going under a different name?
