According to Schaefer, Guerrero was more interested in challenging the winner of the proposed Broner-Maidana fight for the belt.

sounds like a couple of fun fights. the only thing that worries me is that this is the coming out party and this is the best that al can come up with to make a good first impression and kick it off with a ****. if this is al putting his best foot forward, i dont think the series will be as successful as he expects it to be and he will start losing money, which will come out of the fighters end.
boxing was more popular in the 80s when they were showing real stars on network tv, and they didnt stop airing those fights because they were making money.

^ maybe the money wasn't what Guerrero considered fair for a fight vs Thurman. Every side has 2 stories and I recall reading somewhere that Guerrero himself said he didn't like the terms for a fight vs Thurman

"There is no way the goal for Haymon can be to put his guys against opponents with a 50% chance of winning, not long-term anyway."

if you haven't noticed, all 4 names on this card are Haymon affiliated. If Haymon matches his fighters vs each other ..... automatic win

**that proposed Danny Garcia vs Lamont Peterson isn't just a great fight, it also pits Haymon fighters against each other.

I don't get it, why are you guys acting like this is the first time that Haymon has ever put on a great card. Just less than 3 months ago we got the Khan/Alexander card in Vegas...this saturday Deontay will face Wilder...i mean i know you guys love to act as if Haymon only does Garcia/Salka type of fights but that is clearly not the case.

Guerrero-Thurman Potential For Fight Of a The Year!

I do tire that every time media mention Al "The Pimp" Haymon, they have to tell us 'how powerful he is' like they are blowing him or something. He promoted crap cards last year with Espinoza & SHO... Highlighted by Danny Garcia vs Rod SALKA!! Lamont Peterson vs Santana!! On the same card, had time to unify Garcia & Peterson then in Dec but skipped it again.

BUT... To pull together Guerrero-Thurman, is a great start to redeem himself. Of course Broners opponent could have been better than Molina. Could have had Garcia, or Peterson, or Matthysse!!!

Thurman looked stale in his last fight, but Guerrero will make him fight bell to bell. I'd really like to see Guerrero win this fight; we'll see what Thurman really looks like with this level of talent who knows how to war.
