Comments Thread For: Frankie Gomez Ring Return is Targeted For March 21

The target date for the return of junior welterweight Frankie Gomez is March 21, Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz told BoxingScene.com.

Gomez is one of Golden Boy Promotions' most prized prospects.

Gomez (18-0, 13 KOs) has not fought since winning a one-sided 10 round unanimous decision over Vernon Paris on July 26 in Indio, California.

Hopefully Frankie Gomez gets at least 3 fights this year, preferably 4 though, .

Feed him fighters such as Henry Lundy, Thomas Dulorme, Nihito Arakawa, Michael Perez, and Antonio DeMarco. He should be ready for the big leagues late this year or early next year.

Gomez needs to get off the Mike Alvarado train to jail lifestyle and clean his act up.

Reminds me of a young Cotto

The first time I saw Gomez fight a couple yrs ago he got my attention the same way Miguel Cotto got my attention the very first time I saw him fight over 10 yrs ago. I just got that feeling that this kid can be special, BUT if he applies himself. He's got the intangibles, I remember feeling that way about a young Cotto. I'm very excited to see his next fight he could be a future star.

That'd be a huge step up for Gomez but why not? I mean Garcia just fought Rod Salka, coming off that fight would be the best time to throw Gomez in and find out if he can swim cuz he def ain't no Salka he could catch Garcia off guard. That would be an all action fight

I agree this kids a beast. Can't wait to see him in with better competition. Vernon Paris was no slouch though, he had a fight with Judah after all. I'm thinking maybe a Gomez- Broner fight in late 2015
