Comments Thread For: Brewster: Klitschko Has Another 5 To 7 Years at The Top

Heavyweight kingpin Wladimir Klitschko (63-3) last tasted defeat 10 years ago when Lamon Brewster stopped him in 4 rounds. Klitschko has been on a roll ever since that loss. The defeat prompted him to begin working with Emmanuel Steward and the two quickly hit off. He stayed with the legendary trainer until his death in 2012 and has since been working with Steward's protege Jonathan Banks.

7 years? Can't see Wlad fighting as 45 years old. If we judge by genetics you could notice serious decline in Vitali at 39.
But yeah - last time he took some real punishment was first fight with Peter, stays in shape all the time, he probably has more than enough fights left in him,

I could see him going until 44 or 45 but I doubt he will.Hayden just had the baby and Wlad is probably approaching the point to where he will want to retire and spend time with his family.I could see him taking on more duties as a promoter with K2 or even training up and coming fighters Germany and the Ukraine too.But with his mug and hug style he has he doesn't get hit much like he did before Steward started training him so yeah he could fight well into his 40's.

Vitali had a lot of hard wear on his knees from kickboxing. That was something I remember Emanuel Stewart talking about some years ago.

What gave the indication that Vitali was slowing down?

He can stay at the "top" for another 30 years as long as he can afford to keep buying his own mandatory challengers, fighting once a year drug test free in Germany throwing 25 "punches" a round against raffle winners from the audience of the fight before.

Losing rounds to and not stopping people like Chisora I guess.

You know he had a torn rotator cuff and only used the right hand from the 3rd round on right?

That means a one armed Vitali still dominated a very hungry Chisora, not a past it, already been sparked by Haye, lazy, cash grabbing one.
