Comments Thread For: Garcia: Cotto Beats Canelo - But Golovkin Beats Both

Veteran trainer Robert Garcia would be sitting on the sidelines, but he's very excited at the possibility of a middleweight showdown between WBC champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) of Puerto Rico and Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs). The fight is being negotiated for May 2nd.

Most view the contest as a battle of youth vs. experience. Garcia is siding with experience.

Ggg is the truth. There is only one guy that i would favour over him and hes p4p number 2. A future hall of famer and a potential all time great in andre ward.

i've seen enough of GGG to determine he doesnt want to be great. He will fight chavez at 168 but not ward, so he looks for lesser competition. He can fight #2 pfp but chooses to fight Chavez jr instead. that says alot about his character. He says he doesnt want to move up but will if its a c+ fighter who barely makes weight but not a Champion in Ward. That says alot in wether a fighter wants to truly be great.

So GGG should move up to a new weight class and fight the top guy in the division first time around?

And if you're argument is his trainer's statement about fighting anyone from 154-168, save it.

I think Ward vs GGG will happen. Just wait for it.

It will be more rewarding for Ward if he waits. Why? If GGG fought Cotto and Canelo and won those fights. GGG would be the next PPV Star.

Then if Ward-GGG happens. And Ward somehow defeats GGG, then he could possibly be the other PPV star.

It's a win for him if he waits.

Also, Ward needs to tune up first. And while Ward is doing that, GGG can fight Canelo and Cotto first.
