Comments Thread For: Lemieux Now Free Agent, Eyes Big Middleweight Fights

    By Jake Donovan

David Lemieux is now a promotional free agent, electing to not renew his previous agreement with Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) Promotions.

While a reunion is possible down the road, the middleweight contender will explore other avenues for the immediate future.

“We thank GYM and do not count out the possibility of working together again in the future,” manager Camille Estephan said in a media statement. “However, we wish to keep the door open to explore different opportunities available in order to make the most informed decision about his career in the future.” [Click Here To Read More]

I bet he did not sign as GYM is no longer looked upon favorably by HBO since the Stevenson incident.

It shows he wants to stay where the real meat of the Middleweight division is located. A very good sign and some potentially fun fights can be made.

Well Montreal will always be there for him, that American money will only be around for so long.

It is a good sign for his ambition.

Well he is still with Eye Of The Tiger Management. They are semi promoters themselves and often put on their own shows. Even Interbox will gladly add him on a fight by fight basis to their shows, as he does sell tickets

Exactly if he wants to fight in Montreal someone will work with him, it is a great option to have and allows him to be more daring that most so it should be fun.

                LOL stall him out!

Good move for Lemieux, he's a flawed yet exciting fighter. looking forward to him in the 160lb mix on HBO.

If no one else is gonna say I may as well,ROC anyone ? This guy is hugely marketable, the GGG fight has already been mentioned,ROC obviously have no working issues with K2 and are network durable right, they've signed no exclusive deals with anyone yet have they ?

Boxing is picking up early, plenty of great match ups available outside of the Showtime vs Showtime boxers under Haymon they keep serving us up and preventing some of the wanted fights.
