My thinking is that Cotto could lose vs Mayweather and still fight Canelo right after. but if he loses to Canelo. He could forget the Mayweather fight.

I thought of that too, but then again if Cotto loses to Mayweather the Nelo fight won't be as hot as it is now.
Cotto re-made himself with the destruction of Sergio Martinez. The fight with Nelo is now highly anticipated as it would put PR's most popular fighter coming off a huge win against Mexico's most popular fighter trying for the MW championship.

A loss for either could derail the fight, or at least not make it as big. Like I said Nelo was offering Cotto 10 million in March, with the middle weight belt on the line, I'm sure the offer is a few million north of that plus ppv revenue. .

I really doubt he'd get that from a Mayweather fight, considering Showtime has to pay Mayweather's 32 million guarantee.

Under what terms though? These guys have huge egos and I doubt Alvarez will be happy about Cotto turning the fight down again, specially after all the negotiations. I just don't see Alvarez willing to go through this **** again.

I really do hope that Canelo Vs Cotto happens in June and Manny and May soon be finalized for May 2nd. Two back to back mega fight in the same year would be awesome for boxing and boxing fans. Let's get it on fellas. I say for both fights negotiations, fair is fair. No more short changing the so called B side. No VA Gina demands that the B sides are in the very disadvantage position.
