    Sanctioning Fees Are the Key

If anyone wonders why boxing has so many titles(as have I), obviously we know it's about money. And I think sanctioning fees are that money.

For every title fight, the organization gets to charge a sanctioning fee and receive extra money for well, sanctioning. Where does that money go?

My guess is it goes into somebody's pocket and as long as the fighters keep paying it, that will not change.

I look at this as nothing but a shakedown where the organization gets money for doing nothing(the easiest, sleaziest kind of money there is).

I would like to see a boycott for a year, where all fighters refuse to pay them. The organizations cannot exist without the fighters.

I hate governing bodies but sadly I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon. In fact I think the IBO will be the fifth organization to be recognized as a world championship.

The simple fact is fighters want to be recognized as world champion no matter what, even if it means beating some 17-8-2 opponent from a lighterweight class for a vacant title.

I guess I don't see the point. It may take another generation of guys who will look back and say "Well, I was the WBC Regular Junior Lightweight champion for a little while" to the glazed over eyes of their offspring before fighters actually say, "Why fight for THIS? It has no value."

So if you win a title, you are only have 94 other guys who can claim that. Hhmm. Must be like spending thousands of dollars on dinner and dancing to get laid by a **** star.
