  • Comments Thread For: Froch Says Vegas Showdown With Chavez Jr. Is Close

Nottingham’s Carl Froch has told Sky Sports News that he is confident of securing a Las Vegas showdown against Julio Cesar Chavez Junior at some point this year. “The Cobra” insisted that the Chavez fight is the one that he set his sights on following his KO win over George Groves at Wembley Stadium in May and the 37-year-old believes he will headline in Vegas this year.

“We’re nearly there, dare I say it, with the Chavez fight in Vegas which I’ve talked about since knocking out Groves,” said Froch, 33-2 (24). [Click Here To Read More]

I see a fight coming, but it's going to involve lawyers rather than boxers.

Call me crazy but if this happens, I think Chavez could revive his career if he puts into serious training like he was pre-Martinez fight.

I've always said it, Chavez is a good fighter but his problems is his lack of dischipline.

Not sure this fight does great business at the UK Box Office, some hardcore fans will pay for it, that's about it. Chavez Jr is not well-known in the UK, and let's be honest he's a pretty limited fighter.

Chavez has gone years without a serious training camp and working with a real trainer (June 2012 vs Andy Lee). He once had good skills but those along with his reflexes have surely eroded to a significant degree. He doesn't belong in the ring with someone like Froch and it'll show if it happens. When he becomes free from TR, I don't know if they'll risk him in tune up fights like Vera again.
