Comments Thread For: Rodriguez-Fajardo Rematch In Play For 1/31 in Chiapas

Francisco Rodriguez Jr. was enjoying by far the best year of his career in 2014 before ending on a sour note. The former strawweight titlist struggled mightily in a 10-round draw with Jomar Fajardo on the road in Philippines last November.

A chance at redemption and a fresh start is being offered, as the two will meet in a rematch on Saturday, January 31 in Chiapas, Mexico. The news was announced by Zanfer Promotions, Rodriguez’ promoter.

Chihuas Rodriguez handed Merlito Sabillo his first defeat in Mexico last year, not Milan Melindo. Milan Melindo is a former Flyweight contender whom was defeated by Juan Francisco Estrada in 2013 and has since moved down to Jr Flyweight.

Anyway, glad to see a young fighter attempt to correct a fight in which he didn't look so good in. Fajardo was game but I saw Rodriguez win the fight, however a rematch is fine with me.

I swear no matter the occasion, I manage to mix up those two fighters. Thanks for pointing out my recurring brain fart. I'll get it right one day.
