Dude as much as I like Cotto I can't say Cotto would ever surpass Floyd as the greatest of his era. Floyd is simply the best boxer of his era period even if Cotto was to beat him in a rematch Floyd has already accomplished so much that a loss would only raise his conqueror to second place behind him the only fighter who can surpass Floyd in greatness if he beats Floyd is Pac.

Cotto vs Floyd is a bad fight. You are correct. To avoid Manny and fight on his day, Cotto is the best thing. A easy win win situation for Floyd.

But lets be real. WHY? Why the hell do we need a rematch with these two? its not like Cotto was Robbed or Floyd was robbed! It was a easy yet good UD win for Floyd. A rematch is A duck for Floyd with Manny or Khan and a easy big payday for Cotto with a bunch of extras if he takes the offer aka bait!

Saul is bigger, fresher and younger, Cotto is probably a slightly better boxer but he is not the kind of guy who uses a lot of lateral movement.

Even if he decides to box his offense is based on his left hand and he needs to get into mid range to land his hooks.

I don't think he's fast enough to move in and out without being countered.

In any case, we are talking about getting a decision against Saul!, nobody gets a clear decision against him!.

According to some he's already up on two scorecards.
        ^^ I couldn't have explainet it better.

I just hate how they use the media to up their stock. Shows how fearful Cotto really is on facing Canelo. Andy a Lee would for sure finish Cotto and fighting Mayweather in NY, if for some miracle Floyd takes the fight, a lost for Cotto would be humiliating cause he would be labeled a sell out by his own people.

Floyd/Cotto 2 is a hard sell. The only way I can see it sell is if Cotto takes the Canelo fight and beats him in an impression fashion.

I rather see Floyd and Cotto fight somebody else.

What's the distinction between Cotto and pac? Both accomplished a lot. Both took a few losses. Pac beating cotto relative eons ago in less than fair conditions and cotto trainer less( cottos own fault if u ask me) in and of itself does not substantially change their position as greats. Certainly not the statement were pac can out shine Floyd by beating and not cotto. Seems a bit arbitrary to me. But I'd like to listen to your position.

I would love to know... in what interview did Cotto state he would drop his title rather than face Golovkin? **** reporting. I didn't know Boxingscene had turned into esnews.

I disagree...however it would certainly surpass Pacquiao

2 wins against mayweather would cement him as the best of this generation. That's the honest truth

I still don't get how people can complain about Cotto's opponent choice if he fights Floyd. You can get on Floyd for fighting an opponent he already beat, but Cotto choosing the #1 P4P fighter is the absolute best he can do.
