Javier "Cobrita" Mendoza (22-2-1, 18KOs) will make the first defense of his IBF junior flyweight world title on January 10th in Tijuana, Mexico. The boxer will face Renan Trongco (16-4, 9KOs), who won eight of his last nine.
The last defeat for Trongco came in February 2013 against division leader Hekkie Budler. Mendoza captured the vacant title last September, also in Tijuana, with a twelve round unanimous decision over Ramon Garcia. The last defeat for Mendoza came in 2011, when he was knocked out in two rounds by Jorge Guerrero in a big upset.
