  • Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia is Still Waiting To Receive a Return Date

The date of January 25th will mark a full year of inactivity for former two division world champion Miguel Angel "Mikey" Garcia (34-0, 28KOs). He was last in action against Juan Carlos Burgos and won a twelve round unanimous decision at Madison Square Garden's Theater in New York City.

Not long after that victory, Garcia became involved in a legal dispute with his promoter, Top Rank. That situation is still being worked out. For now the unbeaten fighter is waiting to receive an HBO televised date for his return.

I hope HBO doesn't pay for no tune up b.s fight. He can take that s##t to FNF.

Boxers need to learn that if they are trying to put food on the table, don't legally go up against Promoters. Garcia and Ward are examples. Like certain King fighters, the boxers may not get to fight for years or very little in those years.

Mikey's the April backup plan for Pacquiao at 140.

Crawford fights Algeri for the vacant WBO and then unifies with Vargas in the summer and boom, Bob has his in house Pacquiao opponent in the winter.

Garcia is extremely talented but he's wasting time not fighting anyone.

I'd probably think it would Crawford against Manny in April and then Vargas vs Garcia on HBO for the 140 lb title and then Manny will face the winner in the winter which will almost surely be Mikey Garcia. Has mikey even fought at 135? He needs to transition into it and take a tune up fight like Vargas and get a little hype back behind him before he goes straight from 130 to 140 and challenge pacquiao lol. Crawford has already cleaned out the lightweight division and has alot of hype behind him, he is more ready for pacquiao and would likely be q bigger fight
