The problem is that pedestrian performance came on the biggest stage he's ever performed on and that's what people remember especially casual fans. Thurman has given people every reason to ignore him now.

I like Thurman as a fighter and personality but he got booed out the building the night after he was talking about how he was all about "knockouts for life!" and how he was going to destroy Mayweather. Not a good look.

The guy was coming back off an injury. If you gone judge him by how he did vs Bundu then what about how Kahn looked vs Diaz? He needed the bell to ring to save him from being stopped vs a journeyman. And this is your new and improved Kahn? Please.

Thurman would give Kahn a good fight and I'd put my money on Keith. He not only has power but he can box. Whoever said he doesn't have one punch power is out of their mind. He toyed with Soto Karass. At this point in both their careers, Khan beats Thurman handily as long as he sticks to a gameplan.

I dont like Khan but his performances have been way more impressive than Thurman. Im not sold on Thurman just like the overhyped Porter.

And whats funny is, Keith talking about Amir fighting 140 lbers, when Thurman dropped in weight to the WW division to be more competitive just like Porter. Lets u know something about the fighter who fights at higher weights when they are younger but move down divisions to stay in the game.

Thurman got cracked by Soto Karass a C level fighter because he has no D when he throws combos lol. Also I dont like Khan but alot of fighters get tough fights when they face Diaz.

Bundu was unknown, sure he has an awkward style but Thurman looked like trash for the most part in that fight, and he does have power but has to sit down on his shots for that power, Thurman didnt do anything to Bundu after the 1st round, his shots while moving have half the power, and he looks like crap moving, why all the movement lately? He almost moved more than Laras did against Cinnamon lol.......

Besides, anyone who fights as a JMW as an amateur shouldnt be fighting in a weight class lower as a pro to stay relevant and competitive.

Word.....I agree, he looked a little drained in the weighin for Bundu, wonder if that will make him move up in the next couple years. Thurman can be a very exciting fighter, but hes never gna be on a Manny or Floyd level in his career.

I'm not personally judging him by the Bundu performance. I thought he looked OK but he really should have looked spectacular given all the talk he was doing the previous day and considering the fact it was the biggest stage he'd performed on.

It's about public perception and those were the most eyes that would have viewed Thurman in his entire career....and he didn't deliver. That's what the public will remember. If he'd gone out there and blasted out Bundu like he said he would, then people would get behind him more and there'd be more people saying he and Khan should get it on.

You either haven't done your research or don't follow boxing properly. Thurman has never weighed in above 152. A lot of young fighters take fights where they don't have to make weight and start cutting weight properly when they step up in competition. Thurman isn't a big welterweight, he usually weighs 157-154 on fight night (he was only 153 against Bundu), that's less than a lot of junior welterweights.
