    Mega's Corner: Boxing 2015

So, I thought Id take a break from the norm and try to actually contribute a little more around here. I feel like my posting and threads in NSB have not always been a true reflection of the boxing fan that I am.
So I would like to start doing a weekly (maybe bi-weekly) segment called Megas Corner. To give my take anything boxing related; Fights, Fighters, promoters, networks, etc. As unbiased as possible.

Hopefully it is well received well and it leads to many good discussions/debates.
So in my first Installment I would just like to talk about boxing in general in 2015.

2015 in my opinion is shaping up to be one of the most interesting and intriguing years in recent memory and were only three days into the New Year. Just look at some of the fights already on calendar for this year: Stiverne vs Wilder, GGG vs Murray, Pascal vs Kovalev, Rios vs Alvarado III and many many more. I chose these four fights because I believe out of the 8 combatants stepping into the ring. Four of them are getting Knocked the **** out. Now if that isnt a mouthwatering start to the New Year then I dont know what to tell you.

Cotto vs Canelo. This is a fight that I am very excited for and hope it happens. I expect this fight to be action packed, two boxer-punchers going at it, Mexico vs Puerto Rico. I feel like jumping up and shadow boxing just talking about it. This is a Huuge fight.

How about Mayweather vs Pacquiao anybody? Talks havent been this hot and heavy since 2009-10. But let;s just say Im not holding my breath for this one though. But I will keep my fingers crossed.
Roc Nation makes their boxing debut Jan 9th at MSG. Lets just say Ill be watching with interest. They couldnt secure the big fights they wanted last year but they definitely made their presence known.

Finally, the thing I am most interested in. WWHD? (what will haymon do)
AL Haymon,,, the chupacabra of boxing. I dont necessarily mean that in a bad way either.
But what does he have up his sleeve? Disappointed would be an understatement for haymon fighters in 2014. I just hope that whatever he has planned he decides to let his fighters out of the cage this year and they start getting matched up appropriately. Just because you pour syrup on ****, it doesnt make them pancakes. I understand hes trying to add longevity to his fighters careers and is getting them paid well. But not everybody is a star in boxing. So you cant necessarily invest in everybody. Because then you'll be afraid to lose your investment. Personally, I think having so many fighters on his roster has become somewhat of a conflict of interest. 2015 is a make or break year for Haymon IMO. Whats he going to do when Mayweather is gone and he hasnt established another star or two because theyve all been fighting TBAs or are taking the lesser route to the same pay day and not necessarily the tougher route. But for what its worth,,, I believe in Haymon for some reason. Call me crazy but, I do. The same way I believe in chupacabra. I just hope he doesnt try some sort of MMA model or something dumb like that. So to me, Al Haymon will be telling the biggest story this year through his actions in boxing and possibly what direction things are headed.
    (WWHD)

Remember, boxing isnt a sport or a game. Its a passion, willingness and a desire. A passion that has been engraved in man since the beginning of time, a willingness to risk it all and a desire to be the best. You dont play boxing. Its something you do. Boxing is the purest sport there is. You could die or be born again in the ring. I guess Im trying to say; I respect all fighters, even when I;m clowning around.

Sorry if im a little all over the place with this first one.The kids woke up and I have to go to work so I just wanted throw something together to highlight some stories that interested me in 2015.

With that said I pray for a safe and prosperous 2015 for boxing, all of the combatants and the fans here on NSB.

If you got a subject, fighter or fight you would like me to do a write up on shoot me a message. If you dont like this thread shoot yourself.

I pray that Haymon makes all his fighters 3-fight a year fighters at least.

This two fights a year **** is nonsense.

Although the chin factories in Cuba are old and not up to code. Nothing suggests that they are outsourcing glass chins from russia. They are just of lower standard.

Stevenson looked ok last fight but the fight before that suggested hes been slacking on his training regimen. You cant do that vs Kovalev hes hungry and looking to eat.
              55-45 Kovalev

Budweiser = King of Beers Bud Crawford = King of 140

              Snake over Balls.

Ward should effectively be out of the p4p list and boxing discussions until he officially returns. Fighting Edwin Rodriguez a year ago aint gonna cut it. When he comes back he'll probably need another tune up as well. But I do think Ward would be the favorite over everybody at 175. Even if its slightly.

If your a headliner, I don't mind if you fight twice. Promotion/venues/available dates/recovery time etc. all play a factor in this. As long as your fighting solid opposition though. No TBA's.

Example: There's no reason DSG couldn't have fought a Salka every weekend

3 times a year would be nice though. 2 big fights and a soft touch would be okay.
