Comments Thread For: Nietes Surpasses Elorde's Record, Steps Into History

When the clock strikes twelve midnight on December 31, heralding what millions of Filipinos fervently hope will be a peaceful and prosperous New Year, a 32 year old product of a fighting boxing clan from Murcia not far from Bacolod City will most probably bow his head in prayer and thank God for the blessings bestowed upon him which will, at the dawning of January 1, see this soft-spoken champion establish a new record as the longest-reigning Filipino world boxing champion.

I like him, lotta people don't really care for him but I think he's good and now the best at 108 with Inoue gone.... but he's on that 2 fights a year plan.

Here's hoping for him vs Rodriguez Jnr

I really like Rodriguez Jr but If Nietes maintains his new found stamina consistently throughout the fight, I have no doubt in him outboxing Chihuas I would love to see Guevara vs Nietes before Ahas moves up to Fly.

Some home fighter in Jakarta that weighed 6 pounds overweight by SD. Never seen it... but damn to that.

He really is under-appreciated in the PI...at least by Ryan ********'s experiences.
