Chico spit his mouth piece out purposely to gain more time. Not mad at him just stating. Was a hell of a fight...

Corrales was a master at spitting out his mouth piece to gain recovery time from a knock down. He did this on purpose. The ****** referee further helped Corrales recover by taking about 20 seconds to take a point away from Corrales for mouth piece spitting in the middle of the round when Corrales was out on his feet and ready to go. He should have taken the point away when the round was over but Castillo would have KOed Corrales by then. Without all the recovery time Corrales gained from mouth piece spitting and the ref stopping the fight to take a point from Corrales Castillo would almost certainly have won by KO.

Agree with above posters. Hate how he deliberately spat his mouthpiece and dumb ref even had his cornerman come up and give him instructions during the round lol lol **** that dude... It was a good fight tho. That's it

Corrales used the same mouth piece spitting trick in a future fight with Clottey. Every time Clottey knocked him down he would gain recovery time by spitting out his mouth piece. It didn't work this time. Clottey just kept pounding on him and won the fight. I know Corrales was a brave and exciting fighter but it doesn't change the fact that spitting the mouth piece out on purpose is cheating and wrong.

Castillo got knocked out because of carelessness and overconfidence. The mouthpiece issue was handled correctly by Weeks. He deducted the point after the second time and had the mouthpiece replaced by the trainer. Corrales did what he had to do to survive. He sacrificed a point on the cards to get a few extra seconds to recover. The blame here falls on Castillo. He got knocked out because he exchanged with a dangerous fighter. He went for the kill and ended up getting clipped.

Great fight but it is not the best comeback ever. Micky Ward had a terrific comeback and John David Jackson vs Castro was spectacular
