Comments Thread For: Tarver Doubts Amir Khan Will Land Mayweather Fight

Former champion Antonio Tarver is doubting that Amir Khan will be capable of landing a fight with WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2015. Tarver believes Mayweather is actually serious about wanting to fight WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao in a super-fight.

Correction my dear dear dear old friend Antonio tarver, Manny as well as the rest of the world know that the time is now and has been for awhile now to put that fight in the annals of history, everyone except Floyd who is trying desperately to avoid the fight in private by not coming to the negotiating table as reported by ESPN boxing insider Dan Rafael, as well as trying to make a fight with cotto instead which would also screw the fans out of canelo vs. Cotto, all the while posturing to the media making it seem like he really wants the fight. And you are correct khan will not get the fight, not because he doesn't think hes a big enough name or that he wants the big ppv numbers, oh contrare he has a 32 million dollar guaranteed contract and as Floyd himself said in a recent interview with fighthype "I could fight two bums instead" and also he fought Guerrero and maidana who were lesser known opponents. The real reason is khan also poses a threat, so if he is going to risk losing he may as well face the one who will get him his career high payday aka Manny pacman pacquiao, but only as the very last resort. Trust and believe he will do everything to avoid the fight but looks like the chicken poop idiot is boxed into a corner with nowhere to run

pacquiao understands that he's broke, can't sell in his own asin market, and his career is coming to a end. he can't afford to keep fighting toprank nobodies until its over. so he's begging to mayweather when he should be begging to his boss. bob arum.

Of course not. Les Moonves aka floyds boss doesn't want to continue losing tens of millions of dollars and for floyd to ruin SHO Boxings reputation with fake weed and sparring thats more like the movie bloodsport.

Moonves is gonna force Floyd to fight Pacquiao or go find another network and lose them money instead

The only top 10 WW Khan is a huge threat against is Diego Chaves. Otherwise, guys like Porter, Thurman, Maidana, and Brook are one punch away from making Khan taste the canvas. This is why I think Khan vs Guerrero is the perfect fight right now. Guerrero is right in the middle, he has decent but not destructive power, but he can hurt Khan. Khan can also easily outbox him if he fights smart. It's a good fight and i'm surprised nobody sees how good a fight Khan vs Guerrero is. They're so hooked on Mayweather vs Khan. Another good thing about Khan vs Guerrero, it would be yet another common opponent that Khan can show off that he beat better than Floyd, if he does indeed beat him better. Maidana and Judah being the other two common opponents. Though Floyd was never in such trouble against Maidana as Khan was.

              Pp

Since when has Mayweather made a decision on who he's gonna fight on Cinco De Mayo in December? He will most likely wait until the end of January and up to the middle of February to announce his decision. Cotto and Canelo haven't even been announced yet for the same date and people actually think that Mayweather is scared because he hasn't made an announcement yet as if this is something new that he's doing. He may be waiting for Canelo/Cotto to be announced and then he'll make his announcement weeks later to either push them off the date or make them the co-main event, which would probably be $100 PPV price.

I hate it as much as anyone that fights are based on prestige and egos. If there was a way to do a salary cap and fighters had to fight 3 - 4 times per year in order to keep their rankings, which would impact their earnings, it would be a lot better. Good fighters get about 20 fights under their belts and then they start fighting twice a year. We need our best fighters to fight a minimum 3 times per year. Years ago, it was nothing to have great fighters who fought 60 - 70 times or more during their careers and championship fights were 15 rounds back then.

Exactly who besides khan himself is clamoring to see duckweather vs khan? Lmao nobody is clamoring for that fight except him. Also Floyd fought a prime Judah, not the old gassed out version khan fought.

The only thing Khan is a threat to is his health, that's why Al Hymon and the the Khan team will NOT let him near anyone who can break an egg!
Thurman want's the Khan fight has already asked Al to make it , Al made the Alexander fight instead!!
Khan is not an attractive Mayweather opponent,Floyd would have noted that Khan had no fans but they ALL turned out on twitter....NO good for Floyds PPV fiqures.Plus the big one Mayweather doesn't have to prove what three opponents already have two via a vicious beating.
Khan can't stop this ****** talk that is Khan, the camp should put a gagging order in place and we all, Khan included would be much better for it.
He needs to find some balls and fight Brook for big money before some one knocks this fool out for nothing .
I bet they won't they'll put this clown in against Rob G or dig some other light hitter from some where again and even this is not safe for Khans chin.
Take the money and run Khan your'e a self made laughing stock.
