I think both fighters are excellent and it could go either way but I like Matthysse by KO. He is hard to beat in an out and out war and that is what this fight would be. I think Lucas fought better opposition overall. I think he clearly beat Judah and Alexander and might have defeated Garcia without the eye injury.

I forgot how much smaller than 140 Valero was. That makes me more certain Lucas would win by KO. Lucas is one hell of a fighter and way too good to lose to a smaller man.

To me, I see a lot of romanticizing of fighters whose career's were cut short. Kind of like those who thought Tony Ayala would be anything more than mildly competitive with Duran, McCallum, Hearns, and Leonard just because of the coulda, shoulda, woulda train of hypothesis when anyone with any insight knows those guys would have skinned Ayala alive.

Sadly, we never really seen the best of what valero can do. But it's safe to say, he is an all or nothing type of a fighter--he really is a guy who comes to knock you out--he's looking for it--he'll do anything to get it. There is not much to be said about the guy; his early demise had robbed us of a possible greatest brawls we could have ever seen in this sport.

Valero would do to Matthysse what Molina did in the first half of the fight. But unlike Molina, as soon as Valero tasted blood he finished the job. Valero TKO 7

Valero was a level above DeMarco level fighter, being groomed for Pacquiao. He was the type of fighter that would go to war, get cut, get hit and that would be a disaster for him against Matthysse. Matthysse punishes Valero, ref or corner stops it.

Molina is a big, tall guy with long reach though. Valero was not.
