Comments Thread For: Maloney Encouraged By Duva To Continue in Boxing

Kellie "Frank" Maloney is planning to manage fighters and she may even resume her old post of promoting shows. Frank Maloney rocked the headlines on both sides of the ocean, after announcing earlier this year that he planned to surgically transition himself into a woman. Maloney changed his name to Kellie and began openly living as a women.

When the big announcement was made, Maloney revealed that he had been living as a woman, behind closed doors, for some time.

    Welcome back Kellie Maloney

You go Girl! Kathy Duva is right. And you've got the guts to make this work, but not the balls (forgive my joke).

I thought this 'guy' was reverting to a man. Did she change her mind again?

The OP went wrong I think.

Edit: actually just reading that was a facial reconstruction op which went wrong, the sex change op is supposed to take place early 2015.

Box aficionado= Killing me. Yep, sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do! We can't be sexist either. Women can do it too. A man's work is never done.

Ryan Rhodes was called the ****e Boy too, was it b4 or after the ****e Girls? Also though a good topic is..if you have a fight in a kilt would you feel the guilt? In the nether regions would it be windy for Cindy? Rowdy Roddy Piper was cool too. Also plz can anyone tell me if you had a gender OP,would you box male or female? Also what changing rooms would you use? Martin Lawrence wore a skirt but Will Smith laced em up as Ali, both sides of the coin, Bad Boys, what ya gonna do!!! Malignaggi wore a type of skirt and braids against Hatton too..some say he hits like a girl, but Paulie would not agree!

I like Duva on the whole, but I'm not fully convinced this is sound advice.

Making it as a guy is one thing, making it as a woman (and she's done pretty well with ME, I don't think Lou or Dan woulda been unhappy) is another - and one that Kathy is qualified to comment on, but I'm not sure that anyone is really qualified to offer career advice to a recently decloseted transgender boxing promoter.

Still - guess it's down to Maloney, s/he knows the business better than most and if s/he thinks it'd work and (most importantly) wants to carry on in the sport then I guess I'd have to say 'why not?'.

Funny how Frank Maloney used to get all the hate on NSB, but now he is 'Kelly' it is all love...

                Classic NSB logic once more.

Frankly I couldn't really care less, most boxing promoters are all the same anyway.

Is this really the wisest move? I thought he retired due too health problems? And after seeing how badly he took David Prices losses among several heart attacks previously and so forth, I am not sure its a great idea. Though I guess its what he loves and has always done.

Who cares. Let the twisted old fruit hang around the locker rooms some more. He's been doing it for years under the radar at least now the fighters know what he's really doing in there
