Gaby Peñagarícano, legal adviser to WBC middleweight champion (39-4, 32KOs), has already denied that a deal is complete for a May 2nd showdown with Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs).

If he had to place a percentage on the progress of their negotiations, Peñagarícano says their discussions are around 50% complete. He says the financial terms have not been agreed upon and they haven't reached the point of actually drafting any preliminary agreements to review.

Everyday it's a new story. First "no real negotiations", then "we will not be dictated to", then "we haven't really discussed anything yet", a day later its "50 percent done". I can't wait for this fight to be signed and they start promoting it, starting to feel like a soap opera.

Golden Boy should start lining up a plan B fight for Canelo on HBO May 02. Cotto has become extremely difficult to deal with especially in light of the fact Alvarez is just as big a draw, probably bigger actually.

There is no way Mayweather/Cotto 2 gets done as Cotto will demand a 20 million Guarantee and Floyd won't want to dig into his pocket for that much.

If mayweather doesn't fight pacuiao he doesn't trump anything, in fact he will get trumped by canelo and cotto on cinco de alvarez
