Comments Thread For: Frampton To Face Santa Cruz or Quigg, Says McGuigan

Manager Barry McGuigan is predicting a very big year for IBF super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton (19-0, 13KOs). First he makes a mandatory defense against Chris Avalos (25-2, 19KOs) on February 28th at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

After Avalos, McGuigan is looking to put Frampton in a unification fight with either his unbeaten domestic rival, WBA 'regular' champion Scott Quigg, or undefeated WBC champion Leo Santa Cruz.

Don't hold your breath. Santa Cruz will never fight Frampton (or anyone else who can punch). Quigg is iffy too, though he may have more cajones than Santa Cruz. Frampton should aim for Rigo. He's the champ and he doesn't duck anyone.

avalos looks good at first glance but then you see he gets countered a lot....he's not going to win.

I think they're saving Leo for Mares. I would be forever grateful to the boxing Gods if Frampton vs Mares gets made though.

Frampton knocks them all out and anyone else who dares get in the ring with him. One of the most complete fighters in the game. The Jackal vs El Chacal is the most competitive fight in boxing to be made.

Other than Rigo, Frampton beats anyone in the division.

Rigo is simply levels above the rest of the division but Frampton is a quality fighter who is the best of the rest.

It's going to be Mares vs LSC for a big fight here in the US, and Frampton vs Quigg for a big fight in the UK.

Winners face each other in an unofficial tournament.

McGiggle would never fight Azuma Nelson or Brian Mitchell because he knew he couldn't win. Now he's depriving the World of Rigo vs Frampton. Please let it happen!!
