    Is Roberto Duran overrated?

I see most people put him in their top 5...
    But consider this,

He lost to all the legendary names and only beat one by a very close decision

    SRL
    Marvin Hagler
    Wilfred Benetiz
    Thomas Hearns

His lightweight record was padded and imo, he fought in a weak era. His 2 main opponents were
Esteban De Jesus and Ken Buchahan of that weight.
He then beats the beatable Davey Moore and the lucky Iran Barkley... These were his main opponents, but is it really right to put him in the top 5 P4P list of all time?
    Perhaps overrated?

Duran was a natural lightweight who dominated his division for 10 years like no one before. That alone would put him around the top 20 p4p ever.

The fact that he went up and beat an all-time great two weight classes above light, and even went on to claim a belt four weight classes above light, and off a fighter in his prime, certainly qualifies for top 5, at least in my book

easily in my top 20, could break my top 10, but definitely not top 5. he's not overrated, it's just that there are a lot of other fighters in all the other weight classes that are also worthy of the top blah blah blah list.

              No...he's not overrated.

Starts at 118, dominates 135 beating two all-time great lightweights as well as a slew of other top contenders, moves up to 147 and beats an all-time great in Leonard, beats some good names from 147 to 154 like Cuvas and Palomino, goes up to 160 and gives maybe the greatest middleweight ever all he can handle for 15 rounds, convincingly drops and beats the recognized champion at middleweight in Iran Barkley, moves all the way up to 175 at one point...beating a good fighter in Castro along the way.

That's one big jumble of accomplishments, but it really speaks volumes of how amazing Duran was. Could you imagine Shane Mosely winning the middleweight title from Jermain Taylor in a couple of years? Yeah that pretty much wraps **** up....

Because the rest of Moseleys career has been as good as Durans right
