  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin Still Very Much Interested in Chavez PPV Bout

WBA/IBO/WBC interim-middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) is still very interested in a pay-per-view fight with former champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs).

Golovkin's promoters tried to make the fight, but Chavez was having promotional issues with Top Rank.

Now that Chavez is with manager Al Haymon, it remains to be seen if a fight with Golovkin can be made. There is still a pending legal battle between Chavez and Top Rank. Golovkin is back on February 21 against Martin Murray, and Chavez is still reportedly looking to return in March.

Wait! He doesn't think the time is right for a clash with Ward even though Ward has been calling him out but thinks the time is right for a Chavez bout?

That is the epitome of cherry picking!

are you trying to act like this wouldn't be a ppv? Golovkin just had a 10,000 sell out and 1.3 million viewers and chavez jr had the highest viewership for boxing in 2014, Why wouldn't this be a ppv?

Last time I checked, ward couldn't sell out an arena in his home town,so his name holds no promotional weight, while Chavez brings as many Mexican fans as canelo. But don't worry, I won't pull the whole "who sells more" **** on you. From a professional standpoint, ward isn't fighting right now,and his own trainer said that he wouldn't be ready for a fighter of golovkins caliber, unless he had 2 tune-up fights first. So what is GGG supposed to do? Should do nothing and wait for sog in late 2016,or should he unify his division, and seek the most marketable and appealing fights possible?

I think he's ok with a fight with chavez jr because of the PPV numbers he could do with chavez jr. Ward brings no PPV, ward is also inactive. I just saw that movie in your sig, the btch with the hammers in the subway was crazy!
