At the tail-end of his career, Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya faced both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. De La Hoya lost a close twelve round split decision to Mayweather in 2007 and the following year he was stopped inside the distance by Pacquiao.

With Mayweather-Pacquiao still being the biggest fight in boxing, De La Hoya discussed the punching power of both boxers - which he believes is about the same. De La Hoya wasn't bothered by the power of either fighter, stating that Pacquiao broke him down with an accumulation of punishment.

LOL I told you guys! when I told you Pacman doesnt punch hard at all, even Oscar confirms it, he said they are both equal, he even said what I said that Pac needs to land the perfect punch to knock you out or down, what did I say? I said it before Pacs punch of hatton was the perfectly timed punch, his knock downs of Cotto he hit cotto at the right time while Cotto was in an awkward positions, same with the Mosley and Algieri knockdowns Pac got them while they were not able to absorb a shot and in an awkward positions sideways.

You guys are not on my level when it comes to breaking down and analyzing fights.

"So I really didn’t feel his punch. With him it was more of the accumulation. The only difference is, Pacquiao has more of the ability to knock you out, but he has to land the perfect punch. But Pacquiao doesn’t have the good timing like Mayweather. I would say they are about the same."

Yeah I rewatched Pacquiao vs Cotto last night with British commentary and it didn't seem like Cotto had much of a problem with the punches of Pacquiao, it seemed more like the accumulation of punches are what broke Cotto down.

If you watch the one with HBO commentary they made it seem like Pac was this unstoppable monster when he really isn't. The fight takes on a whole different perspective with different commentating.

Oscar has a really good chin so maybe their power feels more equal to him. If both hit an average chinned fighter that guy would probably think pac got better power and likewise if both would hit khan he would say both hVe great power (when he wakes up).

Wut. Algieri landed flush. Several times. Pac literally walked through them right hands throwing punches. Even Bradley managed to shake Pac up with an overhand right, but Algieri wasn't even denting him.
