Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez-Edgar Sosa Clash in The Works?

There is some talk that Teiken Promotions, who promote WBC flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez (41-0, 35KOs), are interested in matching him next against former champion Edgar Sosa (51-8, 30KOs) of Mexico.

Gonzalez would like a unification with WBO/WBA champion Juan Francisco Estrada, who seems to be heading into a rematch with Brian Viloria.

Sosa put up a decent fight end of last year vs Yaegashi but I can't c him doing better, most definitely worse vs Roman...why the jump 2 #2, only Sulaiman knows...

Since when has Sosa been a bum? Aside from Estrada, Viloria and Roman what other fighters do you actually follow at 112? Because your lack of knowledge is showin by making such an idiotic statement. I digress, the rematch between Viloria and Estrada seems like it will happen in March, Sosa vs Roman is a great substitute seeing as how their styles will clash nicely. Hope both fights get made and winners unify mid to late next year.

I would love to see donnie nietes move up in weight and fight gonzalez. Would be a great fight. Both have very decorated resumes.

Boxing gods, please let this be the year we get flyweights on HBO/Showtime. This match-up wouldn't be a bad place to start. Sosa is a tough cookie to break, but the KO is definitely in reach for Gonzalez. It's a fight where Roman can show off his full arsenal and get fans interested in bigger match-ups.

I think he said 2 to 3 more defenses and he was going to move up and challenge Estrada. Seeing as how 4/5 of Estrada's last opponents were Filipinos, I think they could build up a decent event based off nationalistic rivalry. Great fight nonetheless.
