Focusing on the future of the sport, the World Boxing Council announced that it's next convention will be in Kuming. Patrick Cusick, who is the Secretary General of WBC Asia, made a presentation stressing:

"The development of boxing in China is now in the ascent. Kuming is the gateway to South East Asia, with direct flights from Europe and easy access from Bejing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, I'm sure this will be a major step forward for the WBC in China. It is an appropriate time."
