If boxing was more mainstream in America....

And possible even Africa (lots of potential) Canada and Europe.. Would these Latin countries be so prominent in the sport?

Lets be honest now the only reason as to why a lot of these countries do so well is because most other countries don't care about boxing which is like a niche sport.. in America it's more lucrative to be a NFL, NBA, hell even those swagless hockey players get better money than boxers. Plus these sports are less damaging than boxing. In boxing unless you're at the very top of the food chain (very few are) you get nickels for getting your ass whooped on.

That's why I think a lot of these latin fans are mad at the likes of Floyd (and in the future possibly Errol Spence Jr) because they pay to see a Latin/Spanish fighter beat Floyd or Broner. I mean lets be honest a lot of these Spanish fighters are tough but they're pretty slow and not very athletic.

There's potential for Africa being a market for boxing?

You do know that Africa has the poorest countries in the world, right?

first, you need a large talent pool and, second, you need quality training infrastructure. latin america has the former but lags behind on the latter - hence their generally cruder approach to boxing.

Yeah that's why I'm saying if more got into the sport they could be more dominate. Poorer dudes usually more tough.

                I second this.

And OP, you need more examples of fighters leading the sport that fit your mold here. Lol Floyd, Ward, and Crawford are the only 3 I can name. And they're maybe not the best at that.

Plenty of slow plodding unathletic white guys beat some slick athletic black guys when boxing was mainstream back in the golden age.

Its why they call it the sweet science for a reason because styles make fights. You don't have to be a athletic person to be a top boxer, we seen some athletic black guys who never even made it to the top of boxing like Seth Mitchell he has a glass jaw.

I think OP needs to learn boxing and stop with this racist Afrocentric agenda.

The problem isn't the sport but the modern sports fan. Nowadays they seem to gravitate toward "personalities" moreso than the sport itself.

Ratings reflect fans like Kobe or Lebron more than basketball,Tiger Woods more than golf. Serena or Federer/Nadal more than Tennis. Same in boxing.

Great fights used to be what attracted fans to the sport, nowadays its just the fighter and not the fight. Floyd, Manny, GGG, Kov, Danny Garcia all did big numbers against sub par opposition. The goal is to build a fighter into a "ppv attraction" so all can profit, rather than a great fighter. See Broner, Adrien and Alvarez, Canelo.

Hopefully Floyd v manny will be the last fight of the "ppv attraction" era of boxing. Its always better when the competitive aspect of the sport drives things and not individual personalities within the sport.
