Stevenson ducked him. You can say all you want that Stevenson made the smarter business decision to fighting bums and get paid. I say he ducked the competition. If he honestly thought he could beat Kovalev, he would've fought him/destroyed him/whatever and his value/stock would have risen and with Haymons skills/convincing/backroom antics, he could possibly be headlining ppv's against these bums and getting paid more. Is there any history that a Haymon fighter actually took some risk, got famous, then started sitting pretty getting paid fighting bums? This should be the business decision boxer's ideal career path imo.
Stevenson has expressed a clear desire to fight Kovalov. So how is he ducking?

lol whats wrong with being pro black? why does this cause such a problem what should we do? everyone else can be pro them but why cant we brother? as long as it doesnt lead to disrespect or harm i see no issue in someone loving their raceComment

How ignorant. He isn't ducking an individual, by not fighting him to fight cans for bigger pay days. That my friend is ducking!!! If he wwere to fight Hopkins first for a unification bout then that is understandable but to fight weak opponents and have issues fighting unfit opponents is ridiculous. Stevenson is obviously concerned with Kovalev as he should he but to claim is isn't ducking the fight is moronic. He was ordered by WBC: "fight Kovalev or you'll be stripped"... Now he pretends he isn't ducking -- he only hopes that something very bad would happen to Kovalev and there will be no fight...

stevenson wanted to get some cheese in his pocket before facing Kov i dont understand how this isnt understandable to people here... it makes sense for his personal well being, hes old and doesnt have a long career ahead of him i think he loses to kolv tho but if he lands clean he can end it
These dudes really think boxers are these comic book superheroes who fight purely for the fans and not to put bread on the table.Comment

Exactly, Stevenson is 38 racking up 7 figure paydays against ''bums'' so why not wait before cashing out? He doesn't exactly have long left in the sport.

Hmm so Stevenson is ducking yet he's earning millions per fight lol, he's still the draw.
If Kovalov was such a ''threat'' I'm sure he'd have higher ratings and bigger purses, unless that greedy Kathy Duva who looks like a golddigger is cheating him out of money. And people hate Haymon for getting his clients big purses smh.
I don't mind Haymon, in fact I believe he is good for the sport but I find it hard to believe a unification match for all the titles wouldn't make as much as a Fonfara match is just ******ity at its highest.Comment
