Comments Thread For: Shumenov: Had To Drop 55 Pounds For Hopkins Fight

LAS VEGAS - Combining the invaluable experience he gained as world light heavyweight champion with a different style of boxing introduced to him by his new head trainer, Ismael Salas, Beibut Shumenov used his impressive cruiserweight debut Dec. 13 to prove his legitimacy as a world title contender in the 200-pound division.

Shumenov (15-2, 10 KOs), a former World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight champion and 2004 Kazakhstan Olympian, outclassed opponent Bobby Thomas, Jr. (14-3, 9 KOs) on his way to victory by way of a fifth-round technical knockout.

Isn't Drozd champion now - wouldn't have taken the author much to research that Wlodarczyk lost his belt to him in his last fight would it??? :-)

Oh then the Hopkins fight doesn't count then. Hopkins resume is now complete garbage now that Shumenov's name will be taken off.

Excuses are like azz-ho-le-zzz... everyone has at least one. Sounds like this pretender has a million of em. Let him fight Huck. We'll see how much he enjoys being beaten down.

Shumenov isn't much of a name to have on your resume anyway. Guy was an inactive paper titlist that had been badly schooled by Campillo four years earlier.
