Not when it comes to Floyd/Pacquiao. This fight has the potential for 3mil ppv buys.

I like the idea of a fight on the 4th of July, sounds great I would BBQ and invite friends and family over and light up the fireworks and the end of the night. That would be great fight night. It's not like the 4th of July lands on a Saturday all the time, it wouldn't hurt to try it.

You guys are wrong regarding 4th of July and PPV sales. It is a weekend that works...

        7/3/10------Lesnar vs Carwin ... 1.16m buys

        7/11/09-----Lesnar vs Mir 2....1.6m buys

One would think this would generate more PPV buys for Floyd. 2015 fourth of july lands on a Saturday so it would be perfect for an American boxing star to fight on that day.
It's not going happened.. Floyd already put the roadblock..

If we're going to say "he's a proud American,(Mayweather) he should fight on the 4th of July", cool. Canelo is a proud Mexican. Do you feel he should feel he should fight in his home country on Cinco De Mayo?

Of course not, because the patriotic crap is all bull$h!t.

Cinco de Mayo isn't even a big holiday in the country of Mexico. The 16th of September holds a bigger meaning.

The reason people are fighting over this date is simply for economic reasons. Latinos make up a large % boxing PPV purchasers. This audience of latino's always expect to see and buy a big boxing fight in May.
For this reason and this reason only are guys like Canelo trying to take this date back. The rest is just bull crap.
