If he's out of shape it could add 14+lb to his ideal walk around weight. Looking at him, he should probably weight 160-5 before camp.

He is 160 in fight night anyway, so it aint that surprising.

You can have that size difference advantage when you are young, but once that is gone, someone like Danny Garcia is finished.

If he can make the weight comfortably then what's the problem?

That's actually about average for most boxers. Seeing Amir Khan walking around ishirtless and in short shorts - I'd say he's hovering around 165-170 between fights.

Anywhere from 8-12 pounds (sometimes more) of the weight a boxer loses, if they do it right, is just water weight 24-72 hours before the weigh-in.

So if you enter training camp at 170, you're probably coming in around 15-18% body fat. 2 months of working out hard every day, and dieting (some boxers gotta diet more, some less), you can easily lose that 20 pounds that you gained from the excess calories stored, as opposed to being burned off when you're training. So you lose 20 pounds of mostly fat, and you're now 150 @ 8ish% body fat.

Now, all the boxer has to do is just start inhibiting solid, and fluid intake for 24-72 hours before the weigh in, and BOOM, another 10 pounds of water weight is lost.

Walking around weight is meaningless because some boxers walk around fat and some don't. Garcia hasn't been doing a damn thing at 147 or 140. He is a world champion at 140 so he should defend his title or move up and vacate it. He should finally fight a top 5 world rated fighter and not some unknown and unrated fighter. He hasn't fought anybody dangerous since he fought Matthysse and that was a long time ago.

Most boxers are heavier when they are not fighting. If you are always in weight it means that you are overtrained
