This is no longer a vaild reason and should be seen as an excuse!!!

It's time we consider boxers who always say after a fight "I'll leave up to my promoter or manager to decide" and consider this an excuse when there are fights out there that the fans clearly want to see. This is no longer a valid answer and it is an excuse. They didn't ask your promoter or manager, they asked you. They are no longer allowed to hide behind their promoter or manager. They are men who are capable of making their own decisions. They sign the contracts so they are in charge of who they fight next.

Gray and Kellerman usually do a good job trying to coerce the fighter into answering even if they say that.

Well, opening up their mouths can cost them millions of dollars. So they maintain their puppet roles. You're not dealing with brain surgeons here...

These guys don't usually duck guys because their scared. They duck guys to prolong their income/career.

They have to be very careful. Especially when most of them are glorified hypejobs.

Pac and Floyd have both verbally stated that they want to fight each other. Now it's up to Arum and Haymon to do business with each other and get it made. Arum also needs to quit talking about May 2 since that is a non-issue.

Especially Black American fighters who don't have a natural fan base (there are not nationalistic black people buying tickets and waving flags around). These guys are hired guns. Either they're desperate for a pay day and "will fight anybody" or if in position of power, will duck and dodge and maneuver their way around.

Top Rank fighters hide under Arums skirt and Haymon fighters have begun to do the same thing, the bottom line is if any fighter really wants to make a fight they will demand it and make it.

If you like hearing fighters calling out other fighters, great. But the reality is that the fights that actually happen are decided by promoters and networks. It's easy to say that the fighters control their own careers, but 99% of the time that simply isn't true.

In a perfect world, OP's way is right

But in the real world, you give up negotiating power when you do that.

For example. Say you're a NBA Free Agent on the level of a Lebron James. You're not gonna say I wanna sign with X because now they know they have the power. There not gonna roll out the red carpet for you and probably give you less guaranteed money and less money up front. You want other teams to bid on you to drive you're price up.
