  • Comments Thread For: NSAC Stand By Bradley-Chaves, Herrera Scorecards

Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett has reviewed the scorecards from last Saturday's HBO televised tripleheader from the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Bennett says he is standing by the controversial scoring in two of the three contests.

Timothy Bradley and Diego Chaves ended in a twelve round split draw, in a fight where nearly everyone saw Bradley as the clear winner. And then a World Boxing Association super lightweight title fight between champion Mauricio Herrera and Jose Benavidez Jr., where the challenger got a dominating unanimous decision over twelve rounds - and most saw Herrera as the clear winner.

I've never seen a decision overturned in a big network fight regardless of how big the "robbery" was, I don't know what it the point to these "investigations".

Me neither only if there was some sort of foul controversy or PEDs have decisions been over turned but never have I heard that later some commission decided to say, "you know what the judges did a shit job and here is the new final score".

Personally, I'm glad that boxing doesn't support frontrunning, and places high emphasis on rounds 8-12.

It's a show of heart when someone either steals, or lets the fight get away from them.

Not claiming Bradley gave up (his eye was closed) but Chaves did enough to close the gap.

Obviously like most I had Bradley winning but much closer than the cards others had. "Robbery" it wasn't.

Run, round 1= round 12 in terms of scoring, that is how boxing works or in theory is supposed to work. You score each individual round as if it were its own fight and nothing that occurred in a previous round should effect your scoring of any particular current round for any reason.

Or even just say the fight doesn't count and mandate an immediate rematch... Having hem put out new final scores would leave too much room for corruption, you'd have heavily backed "up and comers" that really lost getting wins after the fact by the commission who wanted to give it a second look.

But yea I think these investigations are nothing more than making it seem like their is some fairness in this sport... When in reality....

If they wouldn't overturn PAC-TB #1 then they ain't GONNA overturn a decision (unless of course PEDS are involved as somebody already mentioned). Boxing generates big money but really the sport needs tons and tons of clean-up, it needs an enema it really does...
