it's really no coincidence why they got rid of ariza quick. his regimen and diet was too intense. rios is a fat slob, he was having none of it.

robert's son has mentioned how mikey gets fat between fights and at one point got proper fat

and i see alot of them having trouble if they aren't turning themselves into skeletons(mikey rios for e.g, remember?) to pick on marginally smaller men

rios looked very soft in his last fight, robert garcia doesn't seem to have a clue on how to condition, he thinks it's just about work work, punch punch so you dont get tired....

Donaire is probably the only fighter there who doesn't look like he's having weight problems anymore.
Donaire isn't part of Garcia's gym. He doesn't even train there.

That's true. And Garcia isn't his "trainer" anymore either, right?

I've never been entirely clear on what Garcia's role is with Donaire at all. All Donaire's training is or at least used to be done at the Undisputed Gym in San Carlos. And it's not like Robert is some legendary trainer with decades of experience behind him who gets paid for that alone.

Garcia got a lot of credit for doing little more than giving Donaire water between rounds on fight night.

Prob because he fires all the SC coaches because they tell him the way he should train. He believes in the old school ways

I always got the impression Garcia was never too bothered because he wanted his fighters to win, meaning he looks good.

Better chance of winning coming in overweight, with a weight advantage, than having his fighters killing themselves or weakening themselves to make weight.

If you win, the vast majority don't care if you come in overweight, just look at Salido-Lomachenko or Mayweather-Marquez. Cheating the weight gets forgotten.

Thus, it was great to see an overweight Rubio stopped by a true professional like Golovkin.

That's exactly what I think, they do it on purpose. They can make the weight, they just don't want to because their limited and need every advantage possible.

I consider Garcia to be a good trainer overall. He teaches his guys skillfull boxing and techniques but he pretty much gives his fighters all the liberty when it comes to conditioning. He needs to be a bit harder on them and incorporate that into his camps instead of 'outsourcing' it.

If a fighter comes in overweight its a complete break down on the staff as a whole. These corners shouldn't be trying to hit the weight right on the button the day of.
