The World Boxing Council has approved a super featherweight title eliminator between unbeaten Javier Fortuna (26-0-1, 19KOs) and British contender Stephen Smith (20-1, 12KOs).

Fortuna, who recently signed with adviser Al Haymon, saw action three times in 2014. He began the year with a fourth round TKO of Francisco Lorenzo in March, followed by a ten round unanimous decision over Juan Antonio Rodriguez in May and then a fifth round knockout of Abner Cotto in November.

I imagine Fortuna blasts this guy out? idk really about Smith seen him once and looked very medicore so is this a first eliminator final or you still have to do it again or maybe you'll get a shot if we get around to remembering about this fight 10 months later title

The only time they did two is when the WBC belt wasn't mando defended for a couple of years.

Miura has been doing constant, so I think this is the only one

I'm pretty sure Estrella has first dibs then these guys would be next up

There is a pros and cons to WBC going mando obsessed suddenly at least they have to win a decent fight to get a shot but it leaves issues for unifications which are rare anyway but still the idea of the possibility is being dashed by these demands maybe that's the point anyway who wants to share their Champion after all.

I don't see how he beats Fortuna. I almost feel like this is a tuneup for Fortuna.
