The World Boxing Council has approved a request for a final title eliminator between silver champion Alexander Povetkin (28-1, 20KOs) and top contender Mike Perez (20-1-1, 12KOs).

On January 17th, WBC champion Bermane Stiverne is going to defend his title against mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder.

Bryant Jennings was previously ordered, by way of a split decision over Perez in July, to face the Wilder-Stiverne winner.

I know Perez isnt a world beater but he is better than many of the tomato cans a lot of the other heavy's are fighting to get a title shot. Hat's off to Povetkin for picking himself up after the Klitschko fight and making some real progress. This should be interesting moving forward

I think Perez is a beast, Povetkin in another tough fight. I have so much respect for Povetkin the way he is continuing after Vlad, and Vlad should give him a second fight too. The first one was disgraceful.

Very good fight IF Perez is in shape.
Povetkin seems to be taking his career seriously now and has clearly benefited from coming in shape, hopefully Perez's lazy ass follows suit.
If he don't he is going to be in real trouble down the stretch.

Puttykin will KO Perez, Mike may have a good chin but he got rocked by Jennings at one point who I consider half the puncher that Puttykin is.

I dont want to write perez off even though I should, i think at this point in their careers povetkin wins easy. Maybe ko, he hits harder than jennings, but if not ud for povetkin.
