Canelo obviously wants to fight in the U.S. on the May date to maximize profits. I'm pretty sure if he could do that while fighting in Mexico, he would. Bottom line is it's a Mexican holiday, not an American holiday, and he clearly wants to celebrate that holiday by fighting for his Mexican people that live both in America and Mexico. Canelo does not even care about the PPV numbers being that he's already confirmed he's fighting on that day with or without Miguel Cotto. He's clearly just wants to fight on that day for his people.
If Cotto decides that he does not want to fight in May, and Arum still refuses to make the May vs Pac fight on that day I would be the first one here calling him a duck. Until then, I don't see any reason Mayweather absolutely has to fight Pacquiao on May 2nd, when they're going to break records and make tons of money regardless of what day they fight.
