I've never understood why PPV numbers are of interest to boxing fans. To the fighters, sure. Fans..why do they care, they ain't getting a cut.

If Floyd want a larger ring..let him have it. If Manny wants to wear his own gloves..let him.
Just fight if you are gonna fight. This whole saga got old back in 2010.

The fight being made won't stop the threads. Wishful thinking Larry.

Ive always found it hilarious boxing fans think they understand boxing economics based just on ppv #s.

I don't think you guys realize how ridiculously high the marketing budget is for some of Floyds ppv fights.

We don't know what the profit margins or total revenue is. Ppv # is just a small part of it.

with this fight, 1% in purse = at least $1 million so a 60-40 split in favor of floyd is at least $20 million more earnings for floyd over pac.

the things is, floyd's lead or advantage over pac in ppv numbers is not worth $20 million. you can squeeze your brain all you want but you can't come up with with a computation that says floyd's ppv numbers are worth $20 million more than pac.

a 60-40 split should be more than enough to satisfy floyd. the way floyd is talking though it's almost expected he will ask more than that. that's the dilemma of these floyd fanboys...they have no choice but to defend whatever floyd demands even though it might lead to another breakdown in negotiation.

a floyd's demand of more than 60-40 is a roadblock.

TBE fans have simple minds. In their simple minds if seller A sold 100 units for an item and seller B sold 50, they automatically assume seller A made more money. Forget about the cost of advertising, promotion, added attraction (expensive undercards), etc. It's silly just thinking about it.

Fans care because PPV numbers influence how well a fighter can negotiate favorable terms for upcoming fights and they also indicate how popular a fighter is at any given moment. Like it or not, PPV numbers and television ratings are part of the sport.

I agree with you that fans shouldn't care about PPV numbers, but again they're relevant and part of the sport so of course people are going to talk about them.
