It's simple numbers really. Hispanics are one of the biggest supporters of boxing and buyers of PPV. Roughly there are about 50 million or so Hispanics in the US. Of those Hispanics it is estimated that about 39 million are Mexican or Mexican American. Why wouldn't you want to maximize your buying clientele by fighting on a Mexican holiday? It's not as if they're going to be fighting for Canelo or helping him in the ring. Add to that most Mexicans I know actually respect Cotto.

Problem is most people are out with fireworks, and picnics. They won't be interested in watching a PPV event. Add to that the fourth is not know for boxing it's known for baseball.
