This is a real problem in the us. It is not only the blacks, but every minority. Studies do show that blacks get the harder penalties for the same crimes that whites commit.

There is a real problem in the penitentiary system in the US. The point of prison should be "curying" the inmates, not getting vengeance on them. i do understand that it is very expensive to correct the system; but it would be worth it.

Studies do show that the harshness of the sentence does not reduce the amounts of people committing these crimes. they might even make them harsher, becouse of the fear of getting caught.

Ecquality would also give a lot of trust for the police and the court system. it is foolish to push ********** and whites away from each other.

Those studies are garbage. They don't look at things like: prior record, mitigating and aggravating factors the judge takes into account when sentencing, different state laws with sentencing guidelines... I could go on and on; there's simply too many variables to get a large enough sample size to do a real study to find out if there is racial bias in the criminal justice system.

Same with police making arrests. They like to claim that "Whites commit just as much crime as Blacks, but Blacks just get unfairly targeted more." However, when you look at the National Criminal Victimization Survey (NCVS), which simply asks random people if they have ever been a victim of a crime, and if so, what the crime was, and what the race of the perpetrator was. And it actually shows that police aren't arresting ENOUGH blacks in comparison to the amount of crimes they commit!!! It's just rdculous when viewing the disproportionate amount of crime between White and Black communities.


However, there IS a HUGE problem with the industrial prison complex n general, RACE NOTWITHSTANDING - there is no huge issue wth racial biasl

The war on drugs is also a huge problem that ruins millions of lives and families.

But this racial rubbish has got to stop... So we can focus on the real problems.

There is truth in your post. HOWEVER those studies are also invalid, at least partially, because of the studies has been made by white intellectuals. It is clear that America has not completely evolved from the pre 60's. There are lots of prejudices (?) against blacks in us society. That reflects strongly on juries (which is ****** as hell system anyways) and the police.

Crime is not racial question imo. its about the standard of living. Lower social-economic status leads to crime more often, race not included. it just happens that blacks and latinos etc. tend to live more poorly in the US at the moment. You have fewer opportunities, yet you see the standard of living you want everywhere. bad combination.

There are different ways to look at this. By language, by heritage, by skin color, not born in the us etc. The biggest ethnic "minority" in us are the germans, if that helps.

They do take the variable in the first bolded paragraph into account and black people still get 20% more time with all things being the same.

And the NVCS study you mentioned doesn't seem like a good study, because the sample isn't based on any real technique. When you get calls from samplers that is because they pick and choose to make sure the sample is representative of population, just asking random people a question doesn't fit any type of formula

Lastly considering stop and frisk policies were used against blacks and latinos 87% of the time in NY and those two groups don't make up 87% of the population, it would seem that blacks and Latinos are targeted disproportionately more than whites.

Brown was a thief, and when a cop confronted him for stealing, Brown fought the cop and ended up getting shot for doing this. In America, if you steal, then fight a cop, you get shot. And you deserve to get shot.

The evidence shows that the scene could be interpreted a number of ways.

Blood away from the car shows that Brown was not near the vehicle when he was shot a few of the times. Bullets in the head, which were the last shots show he was leaning, he was already down at that point but the officer kept going.
