Comments Thread For: Matchroom's Hearn Prepares To Invade American Market

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is preparing to expand his reach to American soil

Hearn, regarded as the dominant promoter in the UK, is making moves to obtain promotional licenses in key American markets. The United States landscape is dominated by two companies - Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions.

Hearn informed BoxingScene.com that he's planning to secure a promoter's license in Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles and Texas.

    Really?????????

He can't compete with Golden Boy & Top Rank his British fighters always ask to fight at home when they challenge for a world title.

Froch will fight a bum like Chavez.jr in Vegas but looking is not looking keen to avenge his Ward loss in Vegas.

Had it occurred to you that he might sign American fighters? There's little point in putting British cards on in the US.

Edit: Fwiw I wish him no luck, he's no better than Haymon and Arum, probably worse since he tries to fool the public into believing he's something else.

If Joshua 'makes it' (which Hearn seems 100% certain of) then he's going to need an American boxing license!

Unless he wants Josh to have some of his biggest fights under someone elses banner.

We have to wait and see with Joshua , before people actually called David Price a world beater

I think if Joshua beats Price firsts then Fury then he can be considered as the a future prospect.

If Eddie Hearn signs US fighter he has no chance as he once said on radio Al Haymon could take my fighters

Interesting in signing overseas fighters I heard Warren wanted to work with Rigondeaux

I agree we should wait and see, but by the way Hearn speaks about Josh he definitely thinks hes going the distance.

Other than that i dont really see what Hearn can do in the American market

Eddie Hearn is an ambitious guy, wouldn't be surprised to see him make a play for some US based fighters and put on shows with fighters like Froch, Brook, Joshua and Quigg, lots of potential fight for these guys in the US why put them on someone else's show.

He might try it out, but will quickly realize it is much harder to fill seats over here for a fight than it is in the UK. The only town over here that seems to fill seats by default is Montreal, and to a lesser extent LA.

I'm pretty sure he's a di****able human, but the pope can't deal with this mess. Down and dirty, dog eat dog promotions. Last Saturday was a good example, fights on top of fights. Cut throat competition.
